The Norwalk Conservation Commission is recommending using $155,000 from the city open space fund to complete the Norwalk Land Trust's purchase of the 2.2 acre parcel at 34 Sammis Street...... This is step one of a three step-process; so we aren't celebrating yet, but we are very hopeful that the City of Norwalk will put us over the top on this 4 year campaign dream

1. Canoe and Kayak Coastal Salt Marsh Tour: July 10, 2010, 10:00 am
This event has been postponed until September. Please check back here for specific details later in the summer.
Paddlers, get ready! Saturday, July 10 at 10 am marks the launch of our first sea-based exploration of some of the Norwalk Land Trust's most interesting properties. The tour will launch from Village Creek and offer a visit to Hoyt Island the the Wilson Avenue salt marsh and uplands (1.6 miles). The tour will then proceed around Wilson Point to the Farm Creek Preserve where we will stop and stretch (4.35 miles). Kayakers looking for a longer voyage may continue to Norwalk Harbor, going around Manresa Island, the Peach Island National Wildlife Refuge and on to the NLT's Yost Street marshlands (7.17 miles).
All skill levels can be accommodated. Proper safety gear is required. Suggested voluntary contribution of $10-$20. Register by emailing NorwalkLT@optonline.net.

2. Discovery Day at Farm Creek Preserve---

A fun-filled day for all youngsters. Our third Discovery Day will host several hundred kids and parents and friends. Scavenger hunts, music, food, tours of the property, and special surprise appearances.
