Norwalk Land Trust Mission and Goals
The Norwalk Land Trust recognizes the need to have a balance between nature and development. We acquire and preserve land to protect nature and to benefit Norwalk’s present and future generations.

The Norwalk Land Trust is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the preservation of open space in Norwalk. In pursuit of this goal it seeks to:

  • Increase open space through gifts, conservation easements and purchase

  • Practice responsible stewardship of properties owned or managed by easement by the Trust

  • Work actively with other groups on land protection projects

  • Involve citizen volunteers in the maintenance and monitoring of Trust properties

  • Promote community understanding of the benefits of protected areas through environmental education outreach efforts and access to Trust properties, where appropriate

  • Advise landowners regarding the techniques and benefits of land preservation

  • Ensure organizational and financial capacity to realize its mission
